Different Approaches + Shared Purpose = Greater Together!

Helping People Build a Life They Have Reasons to Stay Connected To—So They Can Continue to Dream to Live.
Team KYvO believes people are individuals. What helps one person may not help another.
That's why we're building a toolbox of possibilities—resources, strategies, relationships, and experiences that people can explore when life gets difficult.
Our goal is to help people build resilience, connection, understanding, skills, and hope—before a difficult moment becomes a crisis.

Team KYvO was born from love, loss, and a desire to understand.
Kyle's life—and his death—became the catalyst for looking at suicide prevention differently.
His memory reminds us that behind every statistic is a person who is loved, a family who is changed, and a community left searching for answers.
We can listen.
We can learn.
We can build tools.
We can strengthen connections.
We can create opportunities for hope.
Because Kyle's story doesn't have to end with loss.
It can become part of a story about helping others continue to Dream to Live.

We believe prevention can begin before crisis—with education, connection, compassion, and practical tools.
We believe people can develop skills and strategies to help navigate life's challenges.
We believe different people need different tools, resources, and strategies—and discovering what works for each person matters.
We believe there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Individual experiences, needs, strengths, and circumstances matter.
We believe relationships, understanding, shared experiences, and support can help people feel less alone and find possibilities when life gets difficult.

Resilience Begins Early.
Children and young people can begin developing the skills, confidence, relationships, and coping strategies they need to navigate life's challenges.
Parents, caregivers, educators, and communities all have a role in helping build that foundation.

Everyone faces challenges.
Everyone responds differently.
Building Your Toolbox is about discovering the tools, strategies, resources, and coping skills that may help people navigate difficult thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

We Don't Have to Navigate Life Alone.
Starting the Conversation is about connection, support, purpose, and hope—and creating opportunities to talk about difficult things before they become overwhelming.
Sometimes we just need someone to help us find another person, another resource, another tool, another reason, or another tomorrow.

Together, these three pillars are the foundation of a larger Dream to Live program.

The Traditional Approach Asks:
“What Do We Do When a Person Reaches a Crisis?”
Traditional suicide prevention has an important role in recognizing risk, responding to crisis, and connecting people with support.
It commonly focuses on:

Team KYvO asks another question:
The Team KYvO perspective explores what we can build throughout life that may help people navigate difficult experiences before a crisis occurs.
It focuses on:
Together, We Make Dreaming to Live Possible.

Traditional prevention and the Team KYvO perspective don't have to compete.
Both are working toward the same goal:
Save Life.
One perspective focuses on recognizing risk and responding when someone is in danger. Another asks what we can build before a crisis occurs.
What happens when we bring those perspectives together?

Traditional prevention helps us respond to risk.
Team KYvO explores what we can build before risk becomes crisis.

We can't do it without you.
Share your stories, experiences, coping strategies, ideas, or anything that brings you hope and inspiration.
Together, we can build bigger and better toolboxes.
YOUR VOICE MATTERS
YOUR EXPERIENCE MATTERS
DREAM TO LIVE,
TEAM KYvO

Even when life feels overwhelming, there can still be another person, another tool, another reason, and another tomorrow.
Traditional prevention and new perspectives don't have to compete. When we work together, we create more possibilities for prevention and hope.
Different people need different tools. Having more healthy options gives people more possibilities when life gets difficult.
Your experiences, ideas, and strategies may become someone else's tool, connection, or source of hope.
We don't have to navigate life's challenges alone. Relationships, support, understanding, and being heard can make a difference.
Resilience isn't about never struggling. It's about developing skills, relationships, understanding, and strategies that can help us navigate life's challenges.
There is no one-size-fits-all solution. What helps one person may not help another—and discovering what works matters.
We believe people benefit from having a variety of resources, strategies, coping skills, relationships, and experiences they can draw from when life gets difficult.
We explore what we can build throughout life that may help people navigate difficult experiences before they become a crisis.

The Story That Led to KYvO, Which Evolved into Team KYvO
This video was recorded just three months after the death of my son, Kyle.
It captures the beginning of a much larger story—one that continues to shape the mission and vision of Team KYvO.
The Tally Center for Mental Health Services for Students at the University of Mary Washington uses this video as part of its training for counseling interns.
This is where the KYvO conversation began. Team KYvO is where the conversation continues.
When suicide touches a family, the questions can feel endless.
“What if?” “Could I have?” “Should I have?”
Team KYvO understands that pain.
This message is for parents and families who are hurting, searching for answers, or carrying the weight of something they cannot change.
