RAISING RESILIENT KIDS

Memorial tribute image for a son named Kyle with rainbow and lighthouse.

Why It Matters

Teaching children resilience is important because it gives them the mental strength to bounce back from setbacks, manage daily stress, and grow from hard experiences.

Resilience acts like a mental muscle that grows stronger each time a child faces and handles a challenge.

How Resilience Relates to Suicide Prevention

Suicide can occur when the combined weight of physical, mental, and emotional pain becomes overwhelming.

That pain does not exist in isolation.

Outside influences, life experiences, circumstances, the way each person perceives and experiences their pain, the tools and support available to them, and the reasons they see for continuing to live can all affect how manageable—or unbearable—that pain feels.

Every person's threshold is different.

That is why Team KYvO focuses on building resilience, developing coping tools, strengthening connections, and creating reasons to stay connected to life BEFORE the weight becomes overwhelming.
