Suicide only ends by each of us recognizing our own responsibility to keep ourselves safe. The only person you have the control of to stop from acting on suicide is yourself. We can support those contemplating suicide which is what traditional suicide prevention does, but that doesn’t prevent it. This is evident in the rising suicide rates across all boards. People are more aware of it now than ever before as more of us have been effected by it. We need to start sharing our stories and coping strategies with each other so we always have something to try when all else fails. We need to continue to be a source of support to each other, and we need to do everything possible to ensure our own ability to handle all that life throws at us when life sucks the most.
